Match Report
Aylesbury FC went on the FA cup trail with a visit to SSML leaders Langford an 80 strong crowed at Forde Park saw the visitors start strongly and Aylesbury FC had the better opening chances with Swonnell, Henney and Brennan all going close in the opening third of the game. Swonnell returning to the starting line up was influencing the game and linking well with Aylesbury’s front 2.
The away supporters however had to wait 29 minutes for the opener the ever threatening Price went on a mazy run after leaving 3 Langford players in his wake he unleashed a right footed shoot that seamed to be going straight at Stephenson in the Langford goal who seem to slip at the last minute as the ball went sailing in for Aylesbury’s opening. Unfortunately that was the last of the action for Stephenson who went off injured and was replaced by fellow keeper Beckwith.
With the half drawing to a close Aylesbury got there second when Boyce fired in a good cross that was met by Brennan who fired in a shot that was well saved by replacement keeper Beckwith the parry however fell to man of the match Henney who calmly put the rebound away 0-2.
The second half started much as the first ended with Aylesbury butting the home club under pressure and both Henney and Brennan going close in the opening minutes.
A freak accident saw the impressive Stevens left with a broken nose he was replaced by Kieran Schmidt with Eaton shuffling things around and putting Mealor into centre half and Schmidt on the left wing.
Schmidt’s first touch was in the form of Aylesbury’s third goal, a good piece of midfield battling by the ever industrious Butler saw the ball break to Brennan who quick thinking dissected the Langford defence and with Henney clearly in an offside position but not interfering the pacey Schmidt came from an onside position to coolly round the oncoming Langford keeper and pass the ball into an empty net 0-3.
With 57 minutes gone the impressive Brennan got his reward after being supplier he became finisher when a seemingly harmless ball in from Aylesbury FC was miss kicked by Watts and Brennan pounced to calmly finish and to give Aylesbury FC their fourth and a very commanding lead.
The home club then rallied round and put Aylesbury FC under pressure for the first time but Eaton’s men responded well and some strong and resilient tackling and two good saves by Smith denied the visitors any consolation. With an hour gone Man of the Match Henney went on the goal trail his second came when Price slotted him through and a calm finish gave Aylesbury FC a 0-5 lead. Faulkner replaced Brennan and he was immediately in the action with 2 great chances to get on the score sheet.
On 72 minutes Henney completed his hatrick when Schmidt’s clever ball sent Henney through and as the Langford keeper came forward he coolly lobbed the keeper for the best goal of the game and Aylesbury completed their comprehensive win to set up a mouth watering visit to Leighton Town on the 29th August.
